3 Must-Have Tips to Reduce Overwhelm

3 Tips to Help Moms Reduce Overwhelm

We all know that certain times of the year can get crazy busy, right?  For our family April and May leave me feeling exhausted. It's when the school year winds down, extracurricular activities pile up, yardwork calls, and summer approaches  It's easy to become overwhelmed.

But guess what? It doesn't have to be that way! Here are 3 must-have tips to lower stress and leave you feeling like the amazing mom you want to be.

Tip 1: Make Plans Together:

Have you ever thought about sitting down with your son and making a list of everything that needs to get done? This simple task of listing all your to-do's, along with his, will help you feel more organized.  Plus, it's a chance for your son to see all that goes into your daily tasks.

Tip 2: Divide and Conquer:

Now that you have your list, figure out who's doing what. Some tasks might be better suited for you, while others could be perfect for your son.

For example,

  • I put my sons in charge of reminding me what time their practices and games were, and asking me for a ride if needed.
  • I also let them know I would be happy to help them with a school project, take them to the store for supplies, proofread their paper, or grab sports equipment. But if they waited until the day before it was due to ask for help, they would be doing it on their own.

By sharing the workload, you can make things easier for everyone. Plus, you can both be on the same page with who oversees what.

Tip 3: Let him learn responsibility:

Let him be proud of himself when he remembers and follows through, and let him learn hard lessons when he fails.  By trusting him to handle HIS tasks, he'll learn valuable lessons about independence and responsibility.  This is how he grows!

Bonus Tip: Enjoy the Moment:

Amid all the hustle and bustle of this season, don't forget to take a moment to breathe. Practice being present and mindful, and soak in all the special moments with your son. After all, these times are precious and won't last forever.

So, there you have it, moms! With a little planning, teamwork, and trust, you can make whatever season you're in a breeze.
